School Transitions

We value, respect and take pride in our nursery, its facilities and grounds.

Through continuous training and evaluation of the service we provide, we will endeavour to meet the constantly changing needs of the children and parents in a professional and sensitive manner.

 

We aim to always:

  • Provide a safe, stimulating, caring and nurturing environment, enabling all children in our care to reach their full potential.
  • Offer a wide ranging curriculum linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Offer an “open door” policy enabling parents to form partnerships with their child’s keyPerson and all practitioners’, ensuring each child’s individual developmental needs are achieved.  We welcome suggestions and comments that will help us provide the best quality care for you and your child.
  • Ensure children, parents, guardians and carers are treated as individuals irrespective of religion, gender, cultural origin or ability.

 

Meet the needs of children with special or individual requirements enabling them to develop to their full potential.

Once you have made the decision to join us and have discussed with our Nursery Manager the availability we have for your child or children, you will be required to complete a registration form per child and we will discourse our settling in procedure with you and all neccessary terms and conditions, we welcome any questions or clarifications you might have.

Starting reception is an important milestone for every child and their parents. At Balloon Day Nursery we believe that when children leave our nursery to embark on the next chapter in their lives we must do all we can to support and celebrate this transition, ensuring the children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning. Within all Balloon Day Nursery it is a firm belief that all children need to be able to start school ready to learn, that they are able to make friends, play and that they are confident to ask for what they need and voice what they think. Children’s early experiences are paramount for their future success and these are influenced by many factors including the impact of their early education and care. Parents and Key Persons working together in partnership are important to develop the home learning environment. By working together we believe that this will help improve your child’s progress and support them in making a better start at school. At Balloon Day Nursery we believe that it is important to liaise with the school prior to children joining them and will invite the teachers to visit the children at the nursery. In the time leading up to the children leaving the nursery to start school the Key Persons will plan and provide a variety of activities to promote school readiness for example: Reading books together about starting school Role playing the teacher with the register Wearing school uniform for the day Eating lunch from a lunch box Taking part in a fun sports day Confident to wear and take off coat/shoes Staff will also discuss with the children how they are feeling, taking an interest in what they say and engaging in conversations, for example asking them what their teacher's name will be. At Balloon we want to involve parents in the transition process and will share ideas with you as to what you can do at home to support your child in being ready to start school, such as walk or drive past the building to help your child to visualize where their school is and have an image of what it looks like. Our staff understand that it is paramount to communicate as much as possible and endeavor to ensure that as parent's you feel re-assured at all times so that this experience is a seamless transition for both parents and children.
