Values & Aims

We value, respect and take pride in our nursery, its facilities and grounds.

Through continuous training and evaluation of the service we provide, we will endeavour to meet the constantly changing needs of the children and parents in a professional and sensitive manner.

We aim to always:

  • Provide a safe, stimulating, caring and nurturing environment, enabling all children in our care to reach their full potential.
  • Offer a wide ranging curriculum linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Offer an “open door” policy enabling parents to form partnerships with their child’s keyPerson and all practitioners’, ensuring each child’s individual developmental needs are achieved.  We welcome suggestions and comments that will help us provide the best quality care for you and your child.
  • Ensure children, parents, guardians and carers are treated as individuals irrespective of religion, gender, cultural origin or ability.

Meet the needs of children with special or individual requirements enabling them to develop to their full potential.

Once you have made the decision to join us and have discussed with our Nursery Manager the availability we have for your child or children, you will be required to complete a registration form per child and we will discourse our settling in procedure with you and all neccessary terms and conditions, we welcome any questions or clarifications you might have.

At Balloon day nursery, we encourage all children in a way that is best suited to their individuality.

How? Simply by giving each child the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities within the nursery.

Activities at Balloon's include:

  • Music and Movement as a fun way of expressing emotions
  • Drama encourages children to embrace their natural curiosity, enter the land of make believe and build self esteem.
  • Cookery enhances creative development as children develop ideas and tastes in cooking.
  • Gardening helps children developing new skills and build confidence.
  • Art provides opportunities to show curiosity, develop creativity and improve confidence.
  • Jolly Phonics is a method of introducing sounds and letters to children aged 3 and over and is a thorough foundation for reading and writing.

Here at Balloon Day Nursery, we offer a play based day with hidden learning!

We provide well planned experiences indoors and outdoors based on each individual child’s interests. Our staff team will support all children to learn with enjoyment and challenge, having a balance of child initiated and adult led play based activities.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (aka the EYFS) which is a statutory framework, covering learning and development from the day your child is born until the end of their first year at school. Balloon Day Nursery provides all children with a firm foundation on which to build future academic, social and emotional success. We do this by ensuring the Early Years Foundation Stage themes are embedded in all aspects of what we do.

The four guiding principles are as follows:

  • Unique Child- Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured;
  • Positive Relationships- Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships;
  • Enabling Environments- Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers; and
  • Learning and development- Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.

At Balloon Day Nursery, our routines, activities and nursery environments are designed to enhance these areas, offering them opportunities to play and practice their growing skills, ensuring that every child has an opportunity to learn and develop at a pace that is suitable to them.

We observe, assess and plan your children in each of these areas, allowing us to provide a variety of learning experiences that are not only of interest to them, but building on what they already know!

Practitioners will observe your child on a regular basis to identify and assess the progress they are making – regardless of your child’s age or their attendance pattern at nursery. Observations help practitioners to decide where the children are in their learning and development and to plan what to do next.
Observations and photographs of your child will be placed in their own Learning Journal. This document captures their learning from the first day they start at Balloon Day Nursery until the day we say goodbye. We encourage parents and other family members to contribute to this document throughout your child’s time at Balloon Day Nursery.
